All previous Well Made Music podcasts are available through the streaming player on the Well Made Music Myspace page here.

This latest podcast is the first in a series of four where I’ll be presenting the A-Z of electronica. The idea was to approach 26 podcasters and let each choose one letter of the alphabet, an artist beginning with their chosen letter and a song by that artist.

This podcast is part 1 and features the letters A-F.

There are still some letters to be allocated so if you’re a podcaster and wish to contribute the notes below should tell you all you need to know.

Wanted: 26 podcasters to collaborate on the Well Made Music a-z of electronica podcast.

The idea is to have 4 podcasts featuring 26 podcasters each of whom will select one artist to feature on the a-z of electronica.

Initially I’ll not be assigning each podcaster a letter, however later on in the selection process I may be putting out a call for entries, so to speak, to fill in any gaps.

To clear things up, a solo artist e.g. John Smith would be under S not J, and a group e.g. The Whatevers would be under W not T.

I would like it if each podcaster would record a little 20 second intro featuring who they are, the podcast they produce, where it can be found, the artist and the song. All podcasters and artists will also be mentioned, with links, on the Well Made Music blog.

As selections come in I’ll be posting updates on letters still available.

There will be 4 podcasts: letters a-f, g-m, n-t and u-z respectivley.

Letters taken already are A, B, C, D, E, F, H, I, L, M, N, P, Q, R, S, T, V and X.

So, if you’re interested, pick a letter and let me know the artist name and song title you propose featuring. No sound files yet, I’ll let you know when songs/intros are needed in due course. Remember, podsafe music only.

Send to neil@wellmademusic.co.uk

I hope you will enjoy the podcast.

Neil from the Well Made Music podcast selected the following music:

Artist – Aoyoma
Song – Caravane
Location – Paris, France
Band members – Fabrice Mougin
Websitehttp://db1.amiestreet.com/aoyoma
Myspacehttp://www.myspace.com/fabricemougin
Information – Fabrice Mougin composes for television. The Aoyoma project was born with these ideas in mind: to tell stories, draw paintings, create an atmosphere and put characters on a stage. With Aoyoma, unlike his work for television, the film is imaginary. The song Caravane is about the desert and its people.

Artist – Audiomas
Song – Traveller
Location – Los Angeles, USA
Band members – Mark Schwartzman, mastering by Brian Stroner
Websitehttp://www.broadjam.com/audiomas
Myspacehttp://www.myspace.com/audiomas
Information – In addition to creating his own music, Audiomas has been working as an audio engineer in film and television. In a recent email mark said “Thank you very much for choosing Traveller to be on your show. It is much appreciated. Feel free to say what you would like about me and my music. I have nothing to add, other than I enjoy the creative process and would love to think others enjoy the sounds I have created.”

Artist – Slow Dancing Society
Song – A Song To Help You Remember To Forget
Location – Spokane, Washington, USA
Band members – Drue Sullivan & Friends
Websitehttp://www.music.hiddenshoal.com
Myspacehttp://www.myspace.com/slowdancingsociety
Information – I believe in the past I’ve said Slow Dance Society rather than Slow Dancing Society. Drue says this is “no biggy” but I apologise nonetheless.

Drue tells me that two albums are in the pipeline. The albums
are concept albums about Winter and Summer respectively. The first one, out
in Autumn, will be a very cold sombre sounding album while the second, to
follow in the Summer, will be something a little warmer in tone.

Thanks to Cam at Hidden Shoal for permision to play Slow Dancing Society on the podcast. Cam has asked me to point you in the direction of Hidden Shoal because it’s the labels 1st birthday (happy birthday from WWM) and they are giving away a new sampler album (with a Slow Dancing Society track on it) as well as other prizes.

Announcement: The 20th podcast seemed to me an appropriate time to take a break from the regular fornightly format. I’ve done what I set out to do and I feel the podcast is now treading water so I’m taking stock and deciding what I want to do next with Well Made Music. There will be more podcasts, they just won’t be as regular as they have been in the past and they will vary in format as I play around with what I want the podcast to do.

If you have any ideas of your own as to how you would like Well Made music to progress, I would love to hear them.

Also, if you are a podcaster yourself and would like to colaborate on a project then that is something I may well be interested in. Again, if you have any ideas I would like to hear them.

Look out for sporadic and changing Well Made Music podcasts to come.

Thank you for listening and stay subscribed.

Music in podcast 20 is as follows:

Artist – Ben Parsons
Song – Shawl
Location – Seattle, USA
Band members – Ben Parsons
Myspacehttp://www.myspace.com/benparsons
Information – I asked Ben to elaborate a little on his music and he replied thus: “As far as my music, and the track Shawl goes, it’s an attempt to fuse constancy and chaos. Think of how beautiful delicate clouds are seemingly unaffected during a terrible earthquake- or the feeling of simultaneously floating on thin air and being pummelled by jealous onlookers… I’ve been known to call it subsidewalk atmospherics and raintempo beatheivery. Don’t take that too seriously, though.”

Artist – Brindisi Paradiso
Song – Ping Pong In Giardino
Location – Italy
Band members – Enrico Ascoli and Marco Foresta
Websitehttp://www.peoplelikesound.com
Myspacehttp://www.myspace.com/brindisiparadiso
Information – I asked Enrico and Marco to explain Ping Pong in Giardino.
“Gooooooooooood I will download your podcast immediately. Ciao.” Was the response. Perhaps they just didn’t want to say anything, or perhaps things got lost in translation along the way.

Brindisi Paradiso have a nice thing on their Myspace page where if you move your mouse it draws a squiggly line. It’s Gooooooooooood.

Artist – Kalabi
Song – 47 Burning Violins
Location – United Kingdom
Band members – Si Oliver
Myspacehttp://www.myspace.com/kalabi
Information – Things seem to be going well for Si. He says “I’m literally watching the ink dry on an album deal with the Harlequin Recording Group, the album should be out (fingers crossed) in mid june of 2007.”

Artist – Ghost And Tape
Song – 1995
Location – Copenhagen, Denmark
Band members – Hiene
Websitehttp://www.ghostandshell.mymusic.dk
Myspacehttp://www.myspace.com/ghostandtape
Information – Heine tells me that “1995 is inspired by that time when everything was a little bit easier. When all you had to worry about was showing up at school, what to do on the weekends and where you could score some weed……Ghost and Tape try to capture those feelings of innocence and naivety from lost times….I guess….”

Artist – Workbench
Song – 8 Bit Samples
Location – Ontario, Canada
Band members – Sebastien Marchal
Websitehttp://workbench-music.com
Information – At the time of writing I had not heard back from Sebastien regarding any Workbench activities. Never mind, just visit his website for more workbench info than you can shake a big stick at.
I would like to thank the bands, individuals and labels concerned for the permission to use their work.
